Your Body’s Natural Detox Process

People start detox diets because they think it will help fight infections, be healthier, and have more energy. This is true but one thing many people may not sufficiently consider is the healing power your body already has.

To begin with your body has built in defenses to fight disease. Your immune system is strengthened by healthy eating, getting enough rest and relaxation, exercise.

To maximize any benefit of a detox diet it is essential that beyond the detox activities you practice good health daily. Good health it a lifetime activity. Not a pill or magical potion. Too often after a liftime of unhealthy living we turn to radical and extreme solutions. Simply choosing more healthy ways can by itself reverse many health problems.

Eat less of the stuff you know is bad. Eat more of the stuff that is good. Get enough rest and relaxation. Resting and slowing down when you are using a detox recipe will multiply the effect but it is important always. A 58 year ol friend who rides in bicycle “Centurys” (that is a 100 mile bicycle race) said “excercise is 75%” of staying healthy. That is his subjective opinion and many people’s idea of the right percentage will differ, but nobody can be healthy without enough exercise. To me 30 to 60 min a day aerobic is the bare minimum.

Another day to become healthier with a detox cleansing diet recipe.

This is really simple and easy to do. Kind of a 1,2,3 thing. So excuse the short post and try this.

1) Make a big pot of green tea, put honey and lemon in it

2) Slice 2 oranges into small wedges and put them on a big plate.

3) pile on a bunch of grapes.

I just sit down with this in front of the computer and munch on it. After a couple hours I just munched some tuna salad, it may be good to have some type of protein with this because it is kind of high on the sugar side. Protein helps regulate your blood sugar level.

Hopefully I have not harped on this too much. I think it is important to make detoxing a part of my daily life.

Today we have a tasty juice my dear, about 30 oz freshly made.

1 whole celery bunch

6 carrots

3 apples

4 garlic cloves

The garlic really made it a winner. The taste was light and rich.

There were 2 pears that were getting nice and ready but since the juice was done I just sliced them up and this is dinner.

When you try this one you will be surprised how filling this is and how you won’t be hungry soon. I think this is because your body can use almost everything you just ate.

When you eat something very very healthy do you notice they way your body seems to signal you with a pleasant feeling this is something it liked?

Detox is not just about radical treatments. Detox is not even just about cleansing the body. Detox is about helping the body be at it’s best. Promoting the body’s natural ability to heal and detox and purify.

The liver is one of you organs strongly devoted to purifying your blood. There are some foods known to help this process and strengthen your liver. This will promote overall well-being.

As a general “rule of thumb” foods like  salads, beans, fresh juices, stir-fries cooked in a little good-quality olive oil, nuts, seeds, yogurt.

Steaming is a quick and healthy way of cooking vegetables, and the only vegetables to avoid are potatoes, though sweet potatoes are fine. A diet build on complex carbohydrates; brown rice, oatmeal, bananas, whole grains. Lean protein; beans, lentils, eggs, chicken, fish and a little lean red meat and all fruits & vegetables.

I just ate a plate with 2 nectarines, 1 banana, with some peanut butter to dip in. Please believe me when I tell you, in the past that would have been ice cream or cookies and maybe a sugar laden soda.

Healthy food becomes very satisfying after you grow accustom to it. Knowing the colds I used to get too often are part of my gone past helps too. There are definite benefits.

Eat foods high in anti-oxidants which promote your body’s natural detox mechanisms:  broccoli, cabbage, cauliflower, kale, and Brussels sprouts. These foods provide nutrients that enhance our immune system like  Vitamin C, Vitamin E, B vitamins, zinc and magnesium.  These nutrients stop the free-radical cascade of tissue damage and are involved in the enzymes that help detoxify damaging chemicals.

Avoid too much salt and sugar. If you drink too much alcohol you are asking for liver problems. caffeine, smoking and pain medications like aspirin stress the liver so reduce or stop those.

This detox diet juicer recipe for today, which happens to be Tuesday, has an interesting earthy flavor. Could be the beets. My juice is red like wine. It has just as complex a flavor too. I really try for good tasting combination’s because if it tastes good too then everything is just a little nicer.

So I had these cold in the fridge:

2 beets

2 carrots

3 medium size apples

1 bunch of those small onions

1 green pepper

Quite an interesting assortment don’t you think? I was thinking I could of added some parsley and a little cayenne but am fresh out.

If I hadn’t of broken the big glass part of my mixer and not replaced it yet I would have put the juice in there and used my garlic press to put some garlic in there. I would put at least an ounce of olive oil in there too.

Now i reall have to get over to the store for a blender.

When you want to add a banana or a nectarine or a peach they just do not juice, don’t try it at home, or anywhere please. I am taking the advise of the famous Juiceman on this. You can run those in a blender with the juice and make a nice smoothie though.

I am drinking this detox juice diet recipe as I write and I have to tell you this tastes really really good.

I just ran this all in about 5 minutes so forget the “I don’t have time” excuse.

this made about 24 ounces of juice.

5 medium size carrots
1 apple
1 good size cucumber
1 bunch of green onions
3 big celery sticks

If these flavors don’t seem like they will work together believe me they do. Very well.

You could drink this and nothing else except water with lemon, maybe some broth, if you want to make a day of detox. Or make another batch of this.

It will work better if the day before and the day after you use this detox diet recipe you eat mainly salads and or steamed vegetables.

Try this as a weekend detox diet plan. It is recommended to detox your brain some by taking time to relax. Relaxing, being quiet, taking it easy a bit is one of the things you can do to refresh, heal, and reinvigorate yourself. You will look better and have more energy which will bring good things into your life.

I have been reading a lot of  information online about different detox diets. Doing detox plans requires some thought. There is a liver detox plan I see uses Epsom Salts (magnesium sulfate)  taken internally. This may even be wonderful for many people but magnesium sulfate has killed people. The discussion uses one example and sites others and studies. People died. If there was some sort of test I could take to make sure my body could tolerate this regimen before I took tablespoons of Epsom Salts in my mouth I would consider it. I did not find any such test, possibly there is one.

The results from people who took this and survived were dramatic and positive. Apparently the ducts of the liver get blocked over time and clearing that is beneficial. I am thinking there could be other ways to do this. Ways that are not so dangerous. Call me a party proper but if I wanted to die I would just shoot myself and get it over with, thank you.

At least one website was responsible enough to provide a warning. The site writer had done this method and was very happy about it. The other sites who offered the same liver cleanse detox did not mention any precautions. This is very irresponsible. Intelligent people can make infrormed decisions, when they are informed.

My approach is to make detox food and detox plans and incorporate them into my daily life. I expect over time I will try many things, but it will be after enough research. Frankly the sickness some people say they get during a detox program due to the poisons being flushed out could actually be a direct result of the detox thing they were doing instead.

Detox diet recipes that do help the body to heal are usefull and I think important. Even simple fasting, notice that animals do this when sick. Juice fasting is probably just as effective. It is easier to stay with and less likely to effect a person in a negative way.

The idea is to aid, assist, and promote the body’s own healing ability.

So anyway here is my simple detox lunch recipe. I had this today.

1 apple

1 orange

1 bunch of grapes

put them all on a dinner plate, sat and read far out extreme detox methods while I ate. It seems as I eat more fresh food my body wants them more.  Especially the grapes, I could hardly get those grapes in me fast enough.

I also drink water with lemon juice in it daily.

Doing a 3 day detox is a simple way to stay healhy and to lose weight. It’s only 3 days so it will not be a gruelling marathon. I find short detox diets done more often works better for me.

This simple detox should increase your energy too.

On the First Day:

Start your day with water and a little lemon juice, it is refreshing. Don’t drink anything else except a little fresh fruit juice, not the kind with added sugar. For Breakfast you should have a light wholegrain cereal and fruit, oatmeal is ok if you prefer.

When lunchtime rolls around eat just vegetables and a few ounces of fish. The type of vegetables and fish I leave up to your taste. Your body has a sense of what is best for it. See how easy this is? You won’t even feel hungry.

Have a similar meal for dinner. Make sure to leave off oils and salt, or really any heavy seasoning. Day 1 is focused on vegetables, a little fish, and plenty of lemon water.

For the second day:

You keep drinking lemon water and plenty of it, your body will let you know if it is too much, don’t be thinking of gallons though, OK? Stay away from coffee or tea are allowed (Do I have to tell you , No Junk Food?)

Your Breakfast today will be just fresh fruit and lemon water. Go with what is available, in season, your favorites. I like apples, peaches, grapes and may a banana if I am feeling super hungry. Eat until you are satisfied.

Have for lunch a nice green salad with just a little olive oil and lemon on it, go with dark green. When you are ready for dinner eat steamed fish and steamed vegetables. Steaming the vegetables makes them easier for your body to digest.

One of the important principals of detox diets is to lighten the load on your body. You should be feeling more energy and your skin should be looking better by now.

For the third and final day:

See this is not too hard. and you only have one more day to a healthier you. Today is only lemon water and fruit. You may feel very hungry today but hang in there this is the last day. Fell free to eat a few times through the day but just fruit and only lemon water, or plain water if you prefer.

Dinner will make it easier because you can have steamed vegetables. I like corn because it is filling but also go with dark green. The green is from the chlorophyll which is a natural purtifier.

The great part of a 3 day detox is you can fit it into your active life. I do these once every month or so.

Our sedintary lifestyle. As much as your body has detox functions built in remeber the origional design worked best when people ate mostly food they grew and spent hours and hours of physical activity.

Hunting for a lost file on my computer or capturing a video hardly qualifies. Hours laboring over a hot computer or climbing the ranks in a google seach just won’t compare.

Lately I am making my lunch and afternoon snack just a bunch of apples. Cold from the fridge they are quite satisfying. Red Delicious. I have heard other apples discussed as prefered but if I don’t really like the taste then I will not stay with the program. I am going to try this for 3 days maybe a week.


As I have said before, and it bares repeating, It is my plan to make detox dieting part of my every day life. I will be sharing my recipes I use as I go along.
